Saltwater

When it comes time, erase me.

Erase me from the space in your heart to make room for new devotions. Erase me gently. Just as the tides wash away footprints adorning its beaches, does not destroy it’s sands; Does not diminish the way it felt on bare skin.

You were here. We felt it.

This one resonates so much with the work I’ve been doing for nearly 30 years, working in and around funeral homes. The loss, the grief, the healing are such tender points that it’s hard for so many to process in healthful ways. I like the perspective here and you relate it to something everyone has seen either in person or in very public images. May I borrow it and share?
